Brennan is a Canadian actor, dancer, and director currently living in Manchester, UK. Till recently, he was based in Vancouver where he was working as the Clown Whisperer for SmartyPantz Entertainment and as an Artistic Associate of NOW! Theatre. Brennan has been acting for the last eighteen years of his life and has appeared in over eighty productions. Highlights include: touring Macbeth and The Tempest (Theatre Prospero), performing in Night Time (Cowardly Kiss Theatre), Hybrid Moments: A Romantic Black Comedy (NFG Film) and choreographing in Here There Be Dragons (Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre). He has performed professionally in Australia, Japan, the UK, and Canada.
His creation work has most recently been centered around crafting the narrative and performance elements of SmartyPantz‘s live Escapes Rooms (Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver). In the early days, he collaborated with writer/performer Michael Davidson under the name No Snowcones Productions and produced several original shows on the Canadian Fringe Circuit. Brennan’s latest play was The Abominable Autumn, which he co-wrote with Australian artist Billy Stewart-Keed for inclusion in the Brisbane Anywhere Theatre Festival. As an improviser, Brennan has worked with The 11 O’clock Number (Grindstone Theatre), DnD: Improv Edition (No Snowcones), Slixer Entertainment, and Terry Shane Murder Mysteries. He has also been a guest improviser on the Canadian Comedy Award-winning Die-Nasty Soap-A-Thon.
Brennan’s dance work started with a bang as he performed in The Surrender Method (Expanse Movement Arts Festival) in 2010. Since then he has worked on various dance projects and in 2012, with the aid of the Edmonton Arts Council, he was afforded the opportunity to travel to Japan to train and perform with the Butoh dance company Dairakudakan. For the 2012 / 2013 season Brennan joined Calgary-based Three Left Feet Movement Creations as a dancer, teacher, and stiltwalker. Finally during 2013, he renewed his study of butoh with Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre which culminated in performing and choreographing in Here There Be Dragons.
He is a 2009 graduate of Grant MacEwan University (Diploma, Theatre Arts) and a 2013 graduate of the internship program with Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre.
